little ones

This little girl was always looking after her niece while her sister was away. She couldn't have been ten years old and yet there she was stuck hiding in the jungle from the Burma Army and picking up her duty. One thing about suffering in Karen State, they do it together.

Duty, such an admirable virtue.
Especially in the young. But then though they are young in years, not in maturity. Hardship, it separates the wheat from the chaff.
These pictures make praying for Burma so much easier.

This girl was always a pleasure to see. She always did her face paint very nice despite being in and IDP site. For me a symbol of resistance, like "you can burn my home, chase and shoot at me, but I'm still going to be beautiful!" Grace under pressure.
